Program delivery update: Addition of countries to Electronic Travel Authorization Expansion (eTA-X) program

Canada has partially lifted the visa requirement on Indonesia and Malaysia, adding them to the list of eligible visa-required countries under the Electronic Travel Authorization Expansion (eTA-X) program. Indonesia and Malaysia remain visa-required countries, however select citizens are now eligible to apply for an eTA. The eTA-X program allows travellers to apply for an eTA only if they are travelling to Canada by air and if, at the time of application, either of the following applies:
- they have held a Canadian temporary resident visa (TRV) in the past 10 years
- they hold a valid U.S. nonimmigrant visa (NIV)
